Learn how to make this absolutely delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe!
Jump to RecipeChocolate chip cookies. Gooey, soft, chocolaty. The quintessential cookie. It’s what most of us first think of when we think of cookies in general, and there’s a reason for that: They are good!
Several years ago, maybe a decade, I set out to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. I’ve lost count of how many different recipes I tried over the years, but I can say with confidence that this chocolate chip cookie recipe is my absolute favorite and the only one I make now!
The cookie part is soft and flavorful. And the dark chocolate chips make it extra decadent. When these are still warm from the oven and the chocolate is all melty… it’s mouthwateringly divine! I’m not usually much of a milk drinker, but it makes even me want to pour a cold glass and sit down with a big plate of these cookies.
I found this recipe a few years ago over at https://aprettylifeinthesuburbs.com/chocolate-chip-cookies/ and I’ve more or less kept it the same (I only changed the salt a bit), which is pretty unusual for me, haha!
Can you even wait to get started? I can’t! Let’s go!
Jump to RecipeCream the first ingredients
First, cream 1 cup of butter and 1 ¼ cups of brown sugar in a stand mixer. Once it’s thoroughly mixed, turn off the mixer and scrape the dough off of the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula.
Next, add in 1 egg and 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla and mix until it’s all incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl again.
Add the dry ingredients
Now add in 1 teaspoon of baking soda, ¾ teaspoon of salt, and 2 ¼ cups of flour and mix well.
Chocolate chip time!
Mix in 1 bag (or about 2 cups) of dark chocolate chips.
Scoop the cookie dough
Roll or scoop balls of cookie dough, using about 1 tablespoon of dough per ball. Place them on an ungreased sheet pan about 2 inches apart. If you like your cookies flatter, go ahead and slightly smush them down at this point (I just use the back of my metal baking spatula). It’s totally fine to just leave them rounded, though and is usually what I do. They’ll taste the same regardless, it’s really just about how you want them to look.
If you’re making these for a holiday or party, you can add some sprinkles to the top (before baking) to make them more festive. It’s best to place the sprinkles on top of the dough and gently press them into the dough a bit.
Bake the chocolate chip cookies
Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to rest on the pan for a few minutes.
Get yourself a big glass of cold milk and dive in!
Now that you’ve tried them for yourself, isn’t this the best chocolate chip cookie recipe?! I just love it!
If you have any leftover cookies, store them in an airtight container for up to a week. They also freeze really well. 😊
