Jump to RecipeDo you need a quick and easy recipe? Or what about something cheap and delicious? Something healthy that the whole family will enjoy? What about all of those things in one?! Can I get an amen!
That’s what this oatmeal recipe is, folks. Super easy, super cheap, super yummy. It’s one that my family never seems to get tired of. And I don’t get tired of making it since it’s so easy. There’s nothing to thaw or chop, and there’s just one pan to clean.
That’s my kind of meal: simple enough for a quick healthy breakfast, yet good enough for an easy dinner!
Plus, it’s versatile — you can use any kind of frozen fruit you want! We’ve tried it with several different kinds, all very tasty. The mixed berry is my family’s absolute favorite. It reminds me of a berry cobbler and is such a cozy way to start — or end — the day. We often have it for dinner with some scrambled eggs and turkey bacon on the side. Mmm.

First, boil 5 cups of water on the stove in a medium pan. Once the water is fulling boiling, stir in 3 cups old fashioned (NOT steel-cut or quick/instant oats) oatmeal and reduce the heat to medium-low. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat and stir in 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1 bag frozen fruit (no need to thaw) between 12 and 16 ounces. I used raspberries here. Mmm!
You can also stir in a teaspoon of vanilla at this point if you’d like.
Let the oatmeal sit for a few minutes so that the fruit can heat up all the way. This doesn’t take long — by the time you get out some bowls and spoons, it’ll probably be ready!
Now the next part is very important. Are you ready?
Eat and enjoy! 😉
