Learn how to make this super easy frozen craft for kids!
Looking for an easy Frozen inspired craft that everyone will love? This is it, friends! It’s easy to prepare, perfect for parties, boys and girls alike love it…. what more could you ask for?
You know the trolls’ crystal necklaces in Frozen? Did you ever notice that they light up when they’re talking? They do!
That may not seem very remarkable, but considering how often Frozen has been watched in this house, I can’t believe how long it took me to notice this, haha.
And it gave me the idea for this craft!
I love how it’s so simple — seriously requires very little work — yet kids just LOVE it.
Gather your supplies
All you need is some yarn or ribbon, chem light glow sticks with holes at the top (the smallest ones I could find were 4 inches — I don’t recommend going any larger than that), and scissors. That’s it!
I chose green yarn because I thought it looked more troll-ish, but you could use any color you like.
First, let each kid choose a few (at least 3) glow sticks. If you’re doing this with a group, I highly recommend setting a limit on how many glow sticks each kid can take. Otherwise, they’ll all want to use approximately 500, haha.
Cut the string
Now cut a piece of string for each child that is long enough to make a necklace that can comfortably go over their head, plus a little extra for tying knots. I made mine about 35 inches long and had plenty of wiggle room to work with.
Add the glow sticks
Next, thread the string through one of the glow sticks. Once you have it where you want it, tie it in place with a simple double knot (just tie a knot twice). This step prevents the glow sticks from all sliding down to the very center in a clump.
Continue threading on the remaining glow sticks, tying them in place each time.
Close the necklace
Now all that’s left to do is tie the necklace closed! Take the two end of the string and tie them together. Go ahead and trim off the excess string, if needed.
The necklace is finished!
Now here’s the really fun part: activate the glow sticks by cracking them! Is it any wonder why kids love these?
They just happen to be perfect for a dance party, as we discovered at my daughter’s Frozen birthday party.
