The decorations, the Fall treats, the parties… and let’s not forget the COSTUMES! We brainstorm costume ideas all year long in my house, haha!
I particularly love it when we get to do a themed family Halloween costume. The last couple of years my kids have each wanted to dress up in completely unrelated costumes, but this year they finally agree on a theme! So all of us, myself and husband included, get to do a family costume this year and I’m stoked, haha!
It got me thinking about family Halloween costume ideas and what makes a good one. I think the most popular ones are often the most straightforward– something that is easy for everyone to recognize, such as breakfast food or characters from a well-known fairy tale, like Little Red Riding Hood.
However, I think the ones that are easiest to convince everyone in the family to do, especially if you have a bigger family, are the ones based on movies/fandoms. You often have more characters to work with so everyone has a better chance of finding a costume they’re excited about.
And then there is always the question of how easy is it to actually find the costumes you want? I love making costumes, but if we’re being totally honest… it’s often not cheaper (and it’s definitely a lot more work) than just buying them.
